How I work

1. Brief and quote

Email me to discuss your project. Once we’ve nutted out your requirements, I’ll provide a quote.

Costs are determined by the scope or intensity of the work required (editing and/or proofreading), the length of the piece and the turnaround time required. A word count for the work (or sample, if you can provide one) will help me quote more accurately.

Once you approve the quote, I’ll crack on, working to your deadline.

2. How I operate

If you supply a Word document, I’ll mark it up using Track Changes so you can see all my amends and suggestions.

If you supply a PDF, I’ll use Adobe Annotations, clearly marking corrections directly to the text or using sticky notes for any queries or suggestions.

I also accept links to web pages from which I create PDFs to mark up on.

If required, I can proofread against supplied previous copy, or blind (without reference to the original version).

For Australian clients, I have a solid working knowledge of the Australian Style Manual and can align your work accordingly.

3. The service you’ll receive

  • I check for:
  • spelling and punctuation errors, typos and inconsistencies
  • poor grammar and syntax
  • accuracy of the content
  • incorrect, missing or inconsistent text elements such as headers, footers, headings, subheads, page numbers, cross-references and links
  • incorrect or inconsistent design elements such as typefaces, font sizes, line and paragraph spacing, colours, tables and images
  • deviations from tone of voice or style guides, or brand guidelines, if supplied.
  • I strive to:
  • ensure your text makes sense
  • simplify your content and make it more concise
  • enhance the clarity and consistency of your messaging
  • improve the flow of your copy.
